A magnificent performance saw Tottenham come from behind to
convincingly defeat Manchester City at White Hart Lane on
Saturday afternoon.
Manchester City lost a second league game in a row, with Harry Kane
scoring his first club goal this season as Tottenham came from 1-0 down
to win.
Kevin de Bruyne angled in an effort to put leaders City in front before
Eric Dier equalised with a 25-yard shot.
Manchester City had looked unbeatable during the first five games of the
season after starting with consecutive wins without conceding a goal. But
the cracks appeared in the shock home defeat to West Ham United and
became gaping holes in this thrashing at White Hart Lane.
It cannot be a coincidence that City had not conceded a Premier League
goal with captain Vincent Kompany in the team and have now let in six
without him.
Kompany was meant to be among the substitutes against Tottenham
Hotspur. The defender was not totally over his calf injury and felt unwell
in the warm-up, so had to be replaced on the bench by George Evans.
